I love eating here. They have very fresh ingredients, their fish is high quality, there's an intimate atmosphere, and a great selection of drinks. There have been occasions when the servers don't give great service. If you get take out, then you definitely won't be disappointed since their food tastes so yummy. However the sushi chefs are the most attentive and friendly. I like sitting at the sushi bar because of them. I like their Playboy and dragon roll, especially with some warm purple haze sake.
Food was decent but not amazing. Customer service was poor. They brought out my wife’s food after she had finished eating they asked if they could get us anything else we had to tell them I still had not received my food. We were planning to order dessert as well but they just came and placed the bill on our table with out check with us first. We decided to not waste any more money there.
Outdoor seating is wonderful on a warm summer night. Service was exceptional. Food was very good, very good selection of sushi to choose from. Had a great time
First off I had an amazing server (Lyndsey). She was very nice and fun. She recommended a few items and they sounded right up my alley. So I ordered those items. They all tasted amazing. It hit the right spot. She was always prompt to make sure my drink was filled. The food came out almost quicker than I could eat my appetizer. Which is surprising because most places seem to take forever. I will definitely be going back in the very near future. I will most likely be asking for the same waitress too.
As for the sushi, I got baked lobster, baja, avalanche, and the playboy roll. Honestly, they were all so good. I will need to upload a photo of our dinner soon. I feel bad for the people who dined here before and didn't think this restaurant was great. This place for us is so good and the service is awesome. Definitely be coming back to try more rolls on the menu!
Worth the cost. This is great sushi. It is consistently good. I’ve tried a few different rolls and enjoyed them all. Some of the best sushi in Utah valley.
We enjoyed our experience as a family. Service was slow but food excellent. Only pet peeve is using imitation crab on rolls
Great service! And lots of options, they're a bit on the expensive side. But it's still good.
Good food, subpar service. My husband and I have dined here a half dozen times, but we have come to the conclusion it's not worth our time as obviously the wait staff has no value for our time. It's a shame as the food is good. We will continue the search for good sushi elsewhere.
Super popular and quality
Excellent service and good food.
Great sushi place with a massive variety of custom flavors. Miso soup is tasty too.
The food was good. However the customer service was really lacking. I ordered take out and when I arrived there was only one other person in the waiting room. The employee came and handed me my food which was one sushi roll in a Togo box which she had carelessly put sideways in the bag, toppling the sushi completely and getting wasabi everywhere, & I hate wasabi. She then acted rushed with me and barely said a word I even was hoping for a moment to order a drink quickly, but she was too rushed. They need to tell the employees that take out customers are important too. Because my only interaction with an employee was really bad.
Tasty sushi, kinda expensive, but worth the price if you want good sushi
Happy Sumo is a consistently good lunch spot! Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but hey, we live in Utah. Beggars can’t be choosers. I work near the riverwoods, and come here a few times a month for work lunch. Booths are cozy, and have the option of a sheet curtain if you’re feeling especially private.I like the Mango Mama, Venus, Diva and Jezebel rolls. Service has always been quick and friendly for me and sushi is decently priced. My only comment is I wish they had a happy hour with discount rolls.
Alicia was our server and she was incredible. She was so kind and attentive. Thank you for taking such good care of us. My favorites are the Seared Tuna Tataki, the Vegas Roll, and the Agedashi Tofu. Thank you!
.. worst sushi ever!!! Poor portion and pricey!! Food doesn’t even taste good!!!
This sushi is one of the better places in Utah county. They are pricey, so sign up for their email list for discounts.
This is one of my top two favorite sushi places! Pro tip: The best rolls are the cabana, rock n roll, venus, and mango mama.
This has been one of the very few places I can find a maki roll for a good price and good quality. I go most other places and either cannot find a maki roll, or it isn't as good. I also recommend this restaurant due to the overall friendliness of staff and due to the restaurant's overall physical nature. Lots of seating options and I love their theme.
This is by far my favorite Asian style restaurant. They have an extensive sushi list and another long list for food items. Their tempura veggies are absolutely delicious and their rice/noodle bowls are amazing! They give you a ton of food for your money and the atmosphere is relaxing and quiet. It's definitely worth visiting!
Another amazing experience. Talked with chefs and ate mussel shooters. This time I added Sake. An amazing blend of flavor mixed with the ponzu sauce, really complimented that unique taste, with a small burn from the alchohol. I highly encourage anyone who is a fan of raw seafood to try it at least one time.
Really great night out spot. Went with a friend and with both got very Americanized sushi. The real star was the dessert. The tempura battered cheesecake was a delight. It’s the best dessert I’ve had in a while. I think if I had seen it and not ordered it I would have regretted it. Life’s short, get the cheesecake.
Delicious sushi and great service. We were seated quickly despite how busy they were. It's definitely a very Americanized sushi experience but that does not make it less enjoyable.
Sushi was the best I've had in a long time. You can taste sweet, sour, buttery, and every flavor you'd expect. Service was great and ambiance was perfect. We drove from Sandy to have our day after Valentine dinner becauae we've been there once and loved it. We'll definitely be going back as often as we can.
We have been coming here for years and absolutely love the food. We love the playboy roll, frida roll, and sunset roll! The service here is usually decent not the best. However, last night our server Alicia was absolutely amazing! She was extremely fast and seems like she really enjoys her job. She gave us to-go drinks and we had a great conversation. We will definitely be back for her again! Thanks for making our anniversary amazing!
Always great 👍 you get what you pay for!
I love this place. I always get their sashimi or chirashi sushi. My order was messed up yesterday and they fixed it for me. Great customer service and great food. Will always come here for my sushi fix.
Madison is an amazing waitress! The food was amazing.
Soooooo so so so so delicious. It certainly can be pricey, but it very delicious and is served so beautifully.
Had a great lunch! The food was delicious and displayed nice. The waiter treated us well and was very attentive - replacing our drinks constantly. I recommend trying the lavish roll. That was my favorite. I will definitely be coming back for more sushi in the future.
Annie is by far the best manager I have ever had the privilege of meeting. The sushi is great! The servers are well trained and the atmosphere is fun. Annie came over several times to check in on us and all other guests. She was very attentive and even brought us refills when her staff was overwhelmed. This woman has serious experience!
The rolls here are satisfying. They give a nice burst of flavor. I’m not a huge raw fish guy but the rolls here make the raw taste like one flavor in a burst of flavors. I also love the dipped and fried rolls. If you are a first time sushi person, make sure you do dipped and fried (vegas, panko popper, etc) because sushi is good - even cooked. I have always been impressed with the staff. Very professional and cheerful and proud of the food they serve. It’s obvious that all of them are sushi lovers which makes a bigger difference than you would think. Also, if you get on their email list, they give you half off a pretty good list of rolls on Tuesdays. Totally worth it. Happy Sumo is a regular place for us.
Sushi is to die for! Loved the atmosphere and employees. So many different sushi options to choose from and they were all so delicious!
Love the crab cream cheese wonton appetizers. Had the firecracker and cosmopolitan rolls. I've also had the Fuji chicken with tempura vegetables recently. All were good. Attentive service.
Great service and although the price is higher than some, it's totally worth it! The food was amazing!!! Try a baked sushi roll. They are huge so don't order too much else! I'm definitely going back soon!!!
This place was Awesome. Loved the service and the food that i got. Will be back for sure.
Sushi is of poor quality and taste. I was not impressed with it.
The atmosphere was super nice and the food tasted good. If you're not a hug fan of sushi like me, but your friends are, the Szechwan Chicken is a good option! The employees were also very kind and not bothersome, they helped out when they needed to but didn't check in uneccessarily which was great!
I love sushi. Happy Sumo has decent sushi. And this is where I introduced sushi to my wife. The nice thing is my wife is able to get sushi plus other good options here while I can stick to my sushi. Is it the best sushi in Utah? No. But it's really good and perfect if you need other options as well.
If you eat here on a weekend evening ask for Marlie! She always takes great care of us and brings us awesome off menu items.Great quality and great taste. We always leave stuffed and happy!
The portions were large and very good. The staff was great and the place clean. If you have trouble walking this is not near parking.
Our server Amy is a borderline goddess. I want to adopt her. She handled our party of 20 people no problem. Stayed perky and upbeat. Brought all of us our individual checks and ran our cards extremely fast. She's amazing. Best service experience I've had in years. I would like to see more traditional rolls. They've got a ton of rolls with lime and lemon and other stuff you don't need on sushi. Also I don't mind paying 12.95 for a sushi roll but they need to be big. These things were the size of California rolls. They tasted really good but were small in my opinion.
The mango roll and the bacon roll are delicious
Pretty good sushi! Playboy- definitely my favorite, mainly because of the fish and sauce on top of it.Wasatch- a little crunch, not super excitingLas Vegas- great fried roll, pretty saucy and tastySpicy Salmon- super basic and cheap, but not very tastyDragon- good overallUtah- very similar to Wasatch in overall taste and texture. DryNot the best sushi I've had and pretty pricey compared to other places in Utah County
It may be better if you actually get sushi. I don't like sushi much so I got chicken and tempura vegetables. The chicken was overcooked and the sauce nothing to Rav about. The service was good though and the facilities clean.
Fresh, delicious sushi. Very reasonable price for the quality, too! Nice servers and attentive service. Thank you!
Great place! Have been coming here for years! Prices are decent and normal in comparison to other sushi places. I always get the Cabana roll. The eel Maki roll was really good! All of their signature rolls are delicious. Highly recommend. Reservations are a must during busy hours. Join their online newsletter club for awesome deals!
I think the food is delicious and a good value with large portion sizes on the entrees.
🔥 sushi would recommend to all persons seeking out quality sushi
